Shurook’s Journey: From Rejection to Empowerment

When She arrived in Australia in early 2017, She was filled with ambition and a desire to advocate for others facing language and cultural barriers. With a background in marketing, She was eager to contribute meaningfully. However, her initial experience was disheartening. A prominent company rejected her, citing concerns about my hijab, which left me questioning my worth and abilities.

Despite setbacks, she persisted and eventually connected with Sisay at MCS. Through a valuable assignment reviewing MCS’s social media and website, she showcased her skills and potential. This led to a part-time job at MCS, where she found her true calling helping diverse communities and priority job seekers.

Working with MCS not only reignited her confidence but also provided her with a platform to advocate for those who needed it most. She’s immensely grateful for the unwavering support from Sisay and the entire team, as it has allowed her to fulfill her dreams and help others in the process.


Zunte’s Remarkable Journey: From Kitchen Hand to Corporate Professional

Meet Zunte, who arrived in Australia as a refugee in 2013. She faced immense challenges while pursuing her studies in Human Resource Management and working as a kitchen hand to make ends meet.

With limited connections and no clear direction, Zunte often felt lost. The turning point came when she discovered Multicultural Consulting Services (MCS) through a school partnership. With their tailored support resume building, interview preparation, and networking opportunities Zunte secured a three-month internship with John Holland. This invaluable experience opened doors to her first corporate job, providing financial stability and enabling her to support her family.

Today, Zunte thrives in her career, continually expanding her professional network and contributing positively to her community. Her journey is a testament to the power of support and determination.

Farida’s Journey: Overcoming Adversity with Resilience

Farida, originally from Afghanistan, faced unimaginable challenges after the Taliban takeover. Evacuated by the Australian army, she arrived as a refugee with a degree in computer science but struggled to find a job in her field.

After countless rejections, Farida connected with MCS through a chance meeting with Sisay at a football event. With our guidance, she honed her interview skills and crafted a professional resume, leading her to a role at John Holland as a Trainee Coordinator.

Despite personal challenges, including the loss of her parents during the COVID-19 pandemic, Farida persevered. MCS continued to support her, allowing her to work remotely while navigating her grief. Today, she is thriving, contributing to significant projects and bringing her family to Australia.


George’s Story: From International Student to Senior Engineer

George Thomas, originally from Kerala, India, moved to Melbourne in 2018 to pursue a master’s degree. Despite facing numerous challenges as an international student, including working survival jobs, he seized an opportunity with MCS.

With our help, George secured a summer internship with John Holland, leading to his current position as a Senior Quality and Completions Engineer for the Suburban Rail Loop East. Throughout his journey, MCS provided vital support, enabling him to navigate personal crises while maintaining his career progression.


Vi Ho’s Journey: Building Confidence Through Support

Vi Ho, working on the Metro Tunnel Project in Melbourne, started her journey with MCS as a receptionist. Initially unaware of MCS’s extensive support, she soon discovered a welcoming environment that bolstered her confidence.

MCS helped Vi navigate a challenging situation when she first started with John Holland. With their support, she transformed her self-esteem and landed a permanent role. Vi now enjoys a fulfilling career, having purchased her own home and discovering newfound independence.


Rina’s Resilience: Finding Stability as a Single Mother

Rina Natalia arrived in Australia in 2020, facing numerous obstacles as a single mother after experiencing domestic violence. Feeling lost in the job market, she found hope when she connected with MCS, which helped her secure a position with John Holland.

MCS not only assisted Rina with immediate logistical needs but also provided mentorship and support that empowered her to climb the professional ladder. Today, she works as a Project Administrator, enjoying financial stability and the ability to support her children.
