Title:  Project Engineer

Location:  Canberra, ACT, AU, 2601

About you:

  • You will enjoy project delivery and working in a busy team
  • 4-5 years minimum onsite construction experience, rail experience desirable but not essential
  • Have an appetite for budgets, systems, stakeholders, planning and construction delivery
  • Safety values, communication skills, people skills and live and breathe ‘People First’ culture are essential
  • Hold a current driver’s license 

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance of the works with technical specifications, applicable legislation, approvals, standards and our SQE Risk Management process
  • Input information and undertake minor design on site, monitor and recommend changes to design details
  • Exercise professional judgement in resolving engineering issues, i.e. construction methods, design, engineering procedures, etc.
  • Demonstrate financial management skills including demonstrated behaviour in reducing costs and meeting budgets
  • Verify subcontractors’ claims and variations
  • Undertake cost controlling and estimating as required by the Site Manager.
  • Maintain drawing register controls for the project ­ Implement and communicate risk controls and actions involved in delivery and implementation of projects
  • Demonstrate skills in reporting on project performance, compliance and defects and/or non-conformance
  • Undertake quantitative and qualitative safety, environment and quality risk assessment to ensure acceptable quality
  • Perform all duties in accordance with John Holland policies, processes, systems, reporting and procedures
