Position Summary:

As a bookkeeper, you will maintain accurate financial records, manage payroll processes, and efficiently use Xero software for financial reporting and reconciliations. The ideal candidate has strong attention to detail, excellent organisational skills, and proficiency in bookkeeping practices and accounting software.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Bookkeeping

· Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries.

· Reconcile bank statements and credit card transactions.

· Process invoices, payments, and receipts efficiently and accurately.

· Prepare and lodge BAS, GST, and other compliance obligations in line with ATO requirements.

2. Payroll Management

· Process weekly, fortnightly, or monthly payrolls accurately and on time.

· Manage employee payroll records, including leave entitlements, superannuation, and tax compliance.

· Ensure compliance with workplace awards, agreements, and statutory obligations.

· Respond to payroll queries from employees and resolve discrepancies promptly.

3. Xero Software Management

· Use Xero software to manage and update financial records, reports, and reconciliations.

· Set up and manage Xero accounts for new clients or employees.

· Generate financial reports and analysis, including profit & loss statements and balance sheets.

· Stay updated with Xero updates and features to maximise system efficiency.

4. Financial Reporting & Compliance

· Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management.

· Assist with budgeting and forecasting activities.

· Ensure compliance with local financial regulations, company policies, and industry standards.

5. Communication & Support

· Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders, including accountants and auditors.

· Provide support and training to clients and team members on financial processes and Xero usage.

· Act as a point of contact for financial and payroll-related inquiries.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):

· Timely and accurate completion of payroll processing.

· Error-free financial data entry and reporting.

· Effective reconciliation of financial accounts and transactions within designated deadlines.

· Meeting ATO and statutory compliance deadlines without errors.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

Essential:

· Proven experience in bookkeeping and payroll management (minimum 2-3 years preferred).

· Proficiency in Xero software, including invoicing, reconciliation, and reporting.

· Strong knowledge of accounting principles and Australian tax regulations.

· Advanced MS Excel skills and familiarity with financial reporting tools.

· Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.

Preferred:

· Relevant qualification in Accounting, Bookkeeping, or a related field.

· Certification in Xero software usage.

· Experience in managing multiple client accounts or small business finances.
