Title: Mechanical Area Manager
Location: Newcastle West, NSW, AU, 2302
Responsibilities of the role include:
- Apply contemporary practices in construction methodology to complete assigned works in compliance with client expectations, company objectives and contractual obligations.
- Develop and implement construction planning, programming and completion schedules.
- Monitor progress, ensuring that work quality and techniques are of a high standard and report regularly on project performance, and cost against company objectives.
- Develop work packages, obtain market pricing, and prepare tender recommendations for engagement of subcontractors and suppliers.
- Manage subcontractor work to achieve outcomes.
- Stakeholder management: Ensure that stakeholders are actively engaged and that beneficial relationships between the project and the client, subcontractors, community and other external parties are developed and maintained
- People management: Establish and develop a high performing team to ensure the project has the capability to achieve targets
- Financial management: Ensure strong contract, commercial and financial risk management, accurate forecasting of both costs and revenue, take corrective action in line with our authority and reporting frameworks and maximise the profit margin for the project
To be successful in this key role, you must have:
- A degree in Mechanical, Chemical or Process Engineering, or similar
- Previous experience within a Tier One contractor for a minimum of 2 years.
- Previous experience in the delivery of D&C water infrastructure projects and managing mechanical installation contractors is preferred.
- Experience in delivery of infrastructure projects, with exposure to Subcontract Management, Project Delivery, Commissioning, Environmental & Controls and Schedule Management.
- A passion for teamwork and delivering on tight deadlines.
- Excellent time management and prioritisation skills
- An understanding of HSEQ management systems, compliance, and reporting procedures
