Position Overview

The Accommodation/Tenancy Support Worker provides assistance to NDIS participants in transitioning into new accommodation and maintaining stable housing. This role involves supporting participants in understanding tenancy obligations, liaising with landlords, and ensuring their living environment is suitable and sustainable.

Key Responsibilities

· Assist participants in finding and securing appropriate accommodation.

· Provide support in understanding tenancy agreements, rental obligations, and rights as tenants.

· Liaise with landlords, real estate agents, and housing providers on behalf of participants.

· Support participants in maintaining their tenancy and addressing any housing-related challenges.

· Provide guidance on budgeting for rent, utilities, and household expenses.

· Assist in developing independent living skills related to accommodation management.

· Ensure compliance with NDIS guidelines and organizational policies.

· Maintain accurate documentation of participant progress and tenancy support activities.

· Communicate effectively with participants, caregivers, and other relevant stakeholders.

Skills & Qualifications

· Experience in social work, community services, housing support, or a related field.

· Knowledge of tenancy laws and rental processes.

· Strong advocacy and negotiation skills.

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

· Ability to support participants with financial literacy and budgeting for tenancy sustainability.

· Understanding of NDIS policies and participant rights (desirable).

· Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation (desirable).

Physical Requirements

· Ability to visit participants in their homes or at accommodation services.

· Comfortable working in a variety of housing environments, including private rentals and supported living.
